But when they are caught in the act, a true farce unfolds, and a very real Earnest is revealed.

Shakespeare’s most musical play gets the royal treatment in this eclectic adaptation from the creator of 2010’s smash hit Shrew: the Musical. Two different women grieve the loss of a brother; one swears off men, while the other puts on a pair of trousers and joins them, setting off a comedy of errors that makes for a raucous, rocking good time.

When the kindly governor of Messina opens his home – and that of his daughter and his niece - to a group of soldiers returning from the front, passions ignite. The road to love proves a hilly one, filled with ups and downs, but not without a few laughs along the way.

Commemorating the 75th anniversary of Orson Welles’ dynamic 1936 Voodoo Macbeth, this production features a predominantly African-American cast, including local favorite Neal A. Ghant as Macbeth. Presented in partnership with NBAF (National Black Arts Festival), this show is a celebration of the strength of a good story in changing times.
